Kangerlussuaq is literally the gateway to Greenland and the international airport connects domestic flights to the rest of Greenland every day. From here you can go on dogsled expeditions, cruises, animal safaris, kayaking, skiing and of course trips to the ice cap that stretches out like a low hanging cloud toward the eastern horizon.
The Hotel at Kangerlussuaq Airport has a very nice and cozy à la carte restaurant. The menu is international with special emphasis on the Greenlandic kitchen. A special treat at the restaurant is their Greenlandic Coffee – This alcoholic drink is a feast for both your palate and your eyes, especially when it is prepared over an open flame and beautifully completed with burning “northern lights”.
